Production of the CV range started in late autumn 1937.
Introduced as a direct replacement for the
C-type, the
range covered vehicles providing between 30 cwt to 5 ton payload
and with numerous body types. As
with the preceding C-type range it replaced, the same
designation
arrangement of wheelbase and capacity, four or six cylinder
petrol engine and normal or forward control driving position
was used.
The term "equi-load" was applied to both
the CV and LC ranges and reflected a design which ensured equal
distribution of load and braking stresses between front and rear axles.
Production was halted during WW2. Post war, only the 4
cylinder engine was offered.
