The club was formed as the Morris 8 Tourer Club in 1959
by a number of enthusiasts who shared a common interest in pre-war Morris 8hp
cars (Morris Minors 1929-1934 and Morris Eights 1935-1939).
Morris Register
Within a few years of formation, it was realised that there were no clubs to cater for quite a few other pre-war
Morris vehicles. In 1966 the decision was taken to expand the scope of the club to cover all Morris Cars, and Van
derivatives, designed before 1st January 1940. This covers vehicles that were in production from 1913 (Oxford) to
1954 (Series Z vans).
The
objects of the Register have remained largely unchanged
since its formation and are:
to promote
interest and enthusiasm in all Morris vehicles of a type
designed before 1st January 1940to put members in touch with
each otherto pool experience of maintenance,
modification, rebuilding and tuningto keep spares in circulation at reasonable costto
assist members in selling, buying and exchanging cars and spares
hold occasional rallies and meetings
To achieve these objects, the Register organises a number of
national events, (and it's Regions numerous local events), publishes
monthly newsletters
and a quarterly journal and maintains a comprehensive
spares service.
In order to keep our vehicles on the road, we need to ensure that legislation (UK & EU) does not prevent us
from doing so or make our usage prohibitive.
The Morris Register is a member of the Federation of British Historical
Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC). The FBHVC aims to keep the use of old
vehicles free from unnecessary restriction, by influencing
MPs, lobbying Brussels (EU), talking to Civil Servants and
Government Agencies.
